Women-owned and designed label Dovetail Workwear is expanding its reach with a new collection geared to ranch workers.

For the collection, the Portland, Ore.-based company used Cordura fabrics for strength and durability. Cordura denim is engineered with a blend of military-grade Invista T420 nylon 6,6 staple fiber and cotton for an authentic denim look, feel and comfort with enhanced abrasion resistance.

The DX Ranch Collection offers a women’s bootcut pant in two Cordura fabrications: a 10 oz. denim with high stretch and the 9.5 oz canvas with medium stretch. Both fabrics provide comfort, durability and “mega-toughness,” the brand stated.

The denim fabric is milled by Artistic Milliners in Pakistan. The canvas is by Freedom Denim in China.

The DX Bootcut is the only Dovetail pant without thigh reinforcements for horseback work. The Cordura threads provides built-in reinforcement, however. Additional features include articulated knees for ease of movement, tool loop, double belt loop, and 11 pockets including a double “shot pocket” that fits essential vet medical tools, folding knives, and anything else that needs to sit snug and shallow.

Cordura’s partnership with Dovetail gained the textile company recognition at the 2021 Professional Clothing Industry Association Worldwide (PCIAW) awards in November. The company received top honors for the Best Design for Workwear/PPE in the Suppliers, Distributors and Manufacturers Category for its durable, “No Fade Black” denim featured in Dovetail’s Maven and Britt style pants. The product was a collaboration between Cordura, Artistic Milliners, Lenzing and Dovetail.

The new collection was influenced by the women of the DX Ranch, a fourth-generation Oceti Sakowin ranch on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation in South Dakota. Women from the ranch helped “inform and inspire the function and designs,” the brand stated.

The DX Bootcut pants are offered in sizes 000–18 for the canvas version and 000-24 for denim with inseam lengths ranging from 28-36. The pant retails for $99.
